Cashew nuts Cashews are grown in many tropical regions, especially India and East Africa. The ear-shaped cashews is grown on trees and contains a white kernel within the shell known as the cashew nut. They can be eaten raw but they are popular in some Indian and Chinese sweet and savoury dishes. Cashews can also be dry roasted, sprinkled with salt to be eaten as a snack. Suitable for vegetarians.
